The Alpaca Partnership provide courses and consultation about all things alpaca and are always happy to provide "tailor made" courses to answer those particular questions that you've always wanted to but never dared to ask……….

What makes a good Alpaca?

Clinics will take place at our facilities in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

Basic Alpaca Husbandry Course - January 22nd 2012

A great hands on course, whether you are thinking about breeding or buying gelded males as pets.
Course will cover;
Evaluating the alpaca

Conformation
Fleece characteristics
Handling techniques

Health Assessment

Body Scoring
Care of teeth and nails
Care of fleece
Worming, drenching, vaccination and injection technique
Identifying an ill alpaca
Nutritional requirements

Paddock layout and management

Field shelters
Water and fencing requirements
Shearing
Advice and help on buying your first alpacas

Choosing the Right Alpaca and Show Preparation - November 12th 2011

A hands on practical session, to help you choose the right alpaca / fleece for the show season. A great course for first time show handler.
Course will cover:

Conformation
Fleece characteristics and fibre evaluation
Fleece skirting
Halter training
What to expect in the show ring.
Correct halter placement
Show preparation
